Most of us have been online for quite some time. Others are pretty new since they just didn't want to get involved too soon in this. Let's see who's setting the tenure record in here: how many ywars have passed since you discovered the internet? Can we talk about 10 years? 4? more ore less?

My Internet access started around six to seven years back now.In that time, not many had personal Internet accounts, the only provider being the national Dial-Up phone company. The most popular aspects were "mIRC" and text-based M.M.O's .I used it often for two or three years, then I let it down a few, only to re-enter one and half year ago.
You can never forget the funny buzz when the modem would connect, and the stress caused by ten interruptions per hour.

I was on dial-up Bulletin Boards prior to the Internet becoming popular. That was back when you would kill to have a 9,600 kbps modem (compared to avg DSL today at about 9,204,000 kbps!!). My very first experiences with the Internet were with AOL back when you would have to auto-dial for 7 hours straight just to get connection (i.e. busy signals) and then you would get disconnected after an hour or so. Needless to say, I only bothered with the Internet for a few tries before giving up for years.

It really wasn't until 1996 that I gave it a try again. By 1998, I started my own company dealing with networking, Internet, and security. So, it snowballed at that point, but I've noticed that I tend not to adopt things too much until the technology is proven. So, despite my typical mentality profile that would suggest I am an "early adopter", I am not.

Hmmm??? I suppose it has been approx. 10 years since my discovery....Started out with a used computer that someone donated to me with a very slow dial-up connection with only 128mbs ram  ...Went from not even knowing how to turn on a computer to teaching myself what little I do know as of now.

well, i recall getting a PC in 1998 and i think i discovered the internet in th year 2000.
My dad decided to let the family use the internet since he heard it's a goo thing, and look where it got us :D hihi

At first we used a dial up connection. It was horrible! Very low speed, it kept interrupting itself and it was just dreadful.
Then we 'discovered' the companies which could provide us with a sweet internet connection :D I have been online ever since! :)

It's been a goo0d number. I've been making money online for 6+ years now. I started using the Internet before that just for fun, but eventually found out what a great money maker it can be.
