I would like to get some honest opinion on sites like plug in profits, success university etc? Do they work or are they really just sucker machines hidden behind a thick veil of hype?

Cheers!

Hi Patrick,

Good question. I looked at "Plug In Profits" once and if the "Success University" is anything like it, then the answer is the same.

Basically, the problem you will find with any kind of "ready-made" site, program, or store is that you only have half the battle at that point. You still need traffic. If they say they'll give you all the traffic themselves, you have to ask, "How?", "From where?", and "With what level of quality?"

Another thing I do when considering any program that touts a lot of traffic or sales is to check their Alexa rank. If it's not outrageous, then how do you know they know what they are doing? My favorite are those sites that claim to generate massive amounts of traffic for you but have about 10 visitors a day. lol

Also, if they DO have a high Alexa rank, go to alexa.com and check out WHERE their traffic comes from. If it is foreign traffic, odds are your traffic from them will be foreign... and then, it's "good luck" trying to sell to them. Also, keep in mind that traffic sold by places such as these are typically "re-selling" traffic. So, it could be fake hits or leads that have already been worked and oversold. In that case, those people have already spent all the money they are going to spend. Make sense?

Thanks for a very prompt reply Brandon..

You are right, they do everything for you except the traffic.

I guess like any good business you need to have good support and infrastructure, which I do believe that some of these turn key sites can provide, and only problem to handle then would be to actually sell the product.

They do offer an advertising co-op program where your ads are rotated amongst members. Ads will be placed in magazines (4 I think) , adsense and other related sites..

The only problem is cost. It cost $99 a month or $699 a year to join the co-op... IMHO thats a bit steep...

I notice you used bux.to and found it to be bogus, what are some good traffic companies we can talk a decent look at?

Cheers!

I'm just now getting back into promoting in this market (i.e. "Get Paid To"), so I'm still in the testing phase again. Currently, I'm testing matrixmails, makolinks, freeadplanet, and wordlinx. I am also re-testing smoothlinks and trafficswarm.

These sites are a bit different than advertising some of my actual companies because the BIG sites I was advertising on before like "SitePoint", "Search Engine Guide", and "Search Engine Watch" are in a different class. Those sites cost me anywhere from $500/month to $5,000/month. However, you know they probably aren't scams and the traffic is very targeted and high quality.

With GPT-related sites, you never know if they scams and it is tough to find the "nuggets" that actually have real members. To that end, I run smoothlinks (mentioned above) and I even have to re-test it myself because even my real members may not have been as active as before. Fortunately, though, it appears my proprietary "cheater" code has been working and I still have some real, good clickers left. A couple of them signed up for this forum and for AdSense. So, that's good.

TrafficSwarm used to work fairly well, but I need more time to judge them now. I have more than 100 people in my downline that used to get me a lot of free traffic, but they are not as active now. I take that as a sign that the program loses people's interest over time -which is to be expected to some degree.

Makolinks, Freeadplanet, and Wordlinx all seem to be doing alright for now. I feel that they are at least paying for themselves. So, that's refreshing. I haven't caught them doing anything shady yet. I'm a little suspicious of Makolinks because their website Alexa is so low but they send a lot of traffic, but it is so cheap that I cannot really complain. It's worth $10 just for the possibility that it might be real... lol

Whew! That was a long post... haha

Cheers,

Brandon
