Some people consider that an unprofessionally designed site won't make them trust the program. Some would even go farther as to consider the program a scam. Most internet guys nowadays are more aware of looks and "demand" to have a program that has a nicely designed page too.

What do you think about this? How much did the site looks matter when it came to chose that program. Did you mistake a nice designed one to be a good program and got scammed?

I think it is very important to have a nice design.

It's like a first impression. If i see a good looking site, a well arranged one with pleasant colors and some nice eye-catching images i might check it out.

If a design is not interesting, if it has too bright colors that hurt my eyes, if it has no shape at all i find it ... disturbing.

Image these days is very important and i think it counts a lot.

Looks are very important nowadays, it shows a self esteem (this statement is available not only online). When a website looks neat and the owner is taking care constantly of it, it shows profesionalism, i think it indirectly makes you trust its content... I wouldn't navigate on a website that looks bad, ugly arranged :|

A nice design always looks good but efficiency, honest owner and quick
answers to contact messages is most important. I rarely make my members
wait longer then a few hours and no more than 24 hours tops!

I also work as a designer so my answer is easy to guess: LOOKS SELL. I don't like joining programs that have a badly designed page. I usually try to find out all I can about them and take it easy. I do my studies with any business plan, but the badly designed sites really don't attract me that much.

I don't think there is someone who would think otherwise.

There are of course people who believe that good content is the only key to success. Of course they are right, but only half-right. A combination of both - looks and good content - is the perfect recipe to success.

Of course, writing the perfect content is not easy, so a good design is very important so it would attract visitors and make the site easy to navigate.

True. If a site is poorly designed, it can be run by the most honest person in the world, but I won't take a chance because it will look like every other "Fly-by-Night" operation out there.

However, a fantastic looking site can also be a fraud with a good bit of money behind it. Those are the most dangerous because people will shout to the heavens to defend it -when in the end, it was just another scam.

So, the moral -as others in this thread have said- is to do your homework before joining. :)

I think the website does have to have a very good design, but as mentioned before even a great design can be a scam. One this i tend to do before signing up for something new is look up the website on whois.com and get some of the company detail from there. Then I will go to BBB.org and see what kind of reputation it has, if any. I also like to check out http://ripoffreport.com/ and see what kind of posts people have about the site.

I do keep in mind tho that some people may just be posting out of spite for something they didn't geniunly try to make succeed vs getting scammed. I am sure there are many others ways out there as well to investigate, but this is the three main things that i do

Most of the time a good design shows me the owner really wants the site to work and has invested time/money into a layout. I also do a small fraud check and some google search for some reviews so that I won't fall into a trap. When it comes to ugly sites I would rather close the browser than do more research.
