What's your story, your background? How were you convinced to try make money via online methods? Where did you begin learning things about these money earning programs? Did you have someone to 'educate' you and tell you how to start? Where you optimistic about this, did you just wanna try and see if it works, thinking you have nothing to lose? How much did it take for you, begin you earned the first important amount of money?

My story is a long story, but basically I found myself in another country where the pay was unable to support my needs. So, I turned to the Internet -where I had some decent experience from a programming and web design standpoint.

I used my knowledge and background in networking and security and began to learn more about affiliate programs, online marketing, and such. I had lost more than $800,000.00 during some difficult personal issues (police and government corruption), but I still managed to pull away with a decent chunk of capital. However, I invested more than $20,000 reading and trying everything there was to find on making money online. I studied, researched, and tried new things.

In the end, I found a couple of things that worked and I ended up making all of my money back and quite a bit extra each month.

Now, as a result of the same hardship as before, I've lost every last bit that I had earned and am pretty much starting over from scratch. But, at least I've gained enough knowledge and experience to know what works and what doesn't. I just have to stay the course and I will be successful again. I hope to share in that success with the helpful members of this forum! :crying:

My first online income stream came from web design. I already had some sites of my own, when I found out I do design nice sites and I can make some money out of this. Then I started working more on monetizing my sites .. Adsense, TextLinkAds and now I am looking for other ways.

My reasons: my wage was no that good and I did spend a lot of time online. If I do stay 10-15 hours / day on the net, why not make something out of this?

First, my name is Freddy I live in CANADA,
I work in a call center for a large retail company in Ontario.
My story with GET PAID TO READ PROGRAMS started a year ago, when I noticed that one of my colleagues while serving customers, like all of us, is always busy on her laptop.
Being curious and love to learn I discovered her secret: Clicking banners and Reading paid mails!! At first I laughed at the idea and didn't think of this as a source of income at all.
But when she showed me her paypal account, I completely changed my mind and started like a crazy to join these programs.
First I was delighted to see small amounts coming to my account, then I thought how to get more money coming: there was only one way instead of joining every program on earth I decided to search for and join only the Best Programs... .
Now most of my pass time is spent on testing and clicking programs

Very interesting to hear everyone's backgrounds! Lots of variety in how people came to the forum and how we all fell into online marketing. ;)

I started because I was more into blogging, never really though about making any money on it. One of my blogs took off however, so I took a shot monetizing it and made a nice (but not huge) chunk of change. I've since moved on to a blog more centered around the GPT industry, since that's my interest right now. It would be nice to make steady income off the web, but I'm honestly still skeptical about getting anything beyond pocket change

It's really interesting to be reading your stories! And now it's my turn to answer how I entered this domain :D My dad works in the IT area, and so I had access to computer technology long before others... I've met some very interesting persons this way, and among them it was this guy that was using the internet to earn his daily money. And he has been earning much above the avarage income... He suggested we started a blog together, as I already had a personal one on a free platform, and somehow he knew I'd have success if I'd be blogging on a certain niche ... I only wanted to blog in order to be read by others, and I knew I'd have more chances to be read if I'd be promoted by this guy, as he knew much more than i did about the online market. Money came along in time... From him I started to learn much more, and so... here I am! Still learning, still have so much to learn :D

These are awesome stories. I am just starting to earn a bit and trying all kinds of programs. It's important to not join them all, just the ones that have the best reviews and good payout. I keep a normal job since my online earning is very very small still. But it's a start. I use a bit of Adsense in a site of mine and started looking into more ways to earn money online. There are some excellent ideas to be used in this forum..

I started to try to make money doing the MLMs but they don't work because they are more like a pyramid scheme that falls apart quickly. I now do surveys and I have a couple of blogs that I make money from.

My story just started on October last year, my income as a school teacher is quite small. A colleague of mine said that you can earn money from playing WOW. At first it made me laughs; I usually make fun of him at his back. One day while I was browsing the internet. I came upon a way to make money online. This is far from playing; it is a writing job, but this has proven that we could make real money from the internet. I also found some websites wherein you can sell your gold for real cash.

I had no car and live in a rural area. plus I spent alot of time online. Then I started searching for work at home jobs for MONTHS without success. Then I finally ran into GPT sites, then I started my own review site, Then I got into affiliate marketing and so on. I keep building everyday.

After reading and learning, I'd say I came a long way fast.

Hi !

I started off in 95 / 96 when the internet was still rather new in Singapore. Businesses were that big on the internet then...

Hotmail was still privately owned, Yahoo was not listed in fact brand new...Google was no where in sight. :dance3:

My first cheque came from a dating site whose banners I advertised on my website and email footers.. it was so exciting...its like you can actually earn money out of it...

Now into hosting and adhoc web work...

You can never get enough of money right? So the more the merrier..but I do believe that we can't sacrifice too much quality of our life just to earn more..

Cheers!

Long ago when the internet was just begining to boom .. I dabbled.. click thru-s, free sites, etc.,.

When banner ads paid very well!! ~smiles~

But that was long ago..

I have come back to the internet looking for ways to earn a little here and there as I am now a stay at home Mommy.. and that is my priority, but still miss bringing in some income..

So here I am now.. doing surveys and loving that my voice is heard and I can get paid to do that...

So that's it .. in a nutshell

I would love to make more cashflow, and am taking baby steps..

ok this may sound silly.. but don't I need an ad to join that?

currently I am only doing surveys...

and while I am all for helping this site, I am unsure how I can with that program if I have no ad... not sure if that makes sense

It does make sense and is a very valid question.

However, the answer is "no", you do not need an ad. Google chooses the best ads for you and then you earn money off of the clicks. So, you basically just sign up, put your publisher code into your profile, and then as the forum grows, you will earn money and be paid by Google directly (check or direct deposit).
