I am looking to promote this forum and spread the word a little bit...

Where would you all suggest that I advertise? In other words, do you know of any programs that have worked for you, have real traffic, and would be interested in joining our community?

If so, please PM me with any recommendations or suggestions. I ask for PM so that people do not get the idea to post referral links in this thread.

I promise I won't spam the thread with links, but I think it's a nice idea to have some list in here so that we can focus our efforts better and also not give you the same recommendations (if it's private we don't know what's been written). I would advise few things:

1. forum posting .. in my case this has been one of the best way to advertise my sites. You can post in similar forums with a link in signature or in webmaster related ones since it's kinda similar as a topic

2. blog commenting. Another awesome way to get some targeted traffic. Comment on intetresting posts in similar niche blogs. It does bring in some relevant traffic.

3. Tell all about your site .. just brag to anyone who's willing to listen about this site and how many interesting things there are to be read. You won't lie :D

4. paid advertising: Adwords (kinda works, just don't pay a lot), links and banners in other nice sites (targeted and good traffic)

There are also the things you can do ON SITE to make it attract more people: have a nice welcome message in the header, try to make the skin more unique by putting some design hours into it (Css modifications, maybe a "wrapper", images being changed). Making it unique would surely help a lot with the branding.

Keep the forums active and nice as they are now: 5-10 new threads a day you start and all people will follow (it's been proven that members like to reply more than start new threads), be as active as you are now and it's gonna pay off.

The project is just great, we had many things to learn from here and I am sure more people will feel this way.
