On 09/17/07 I completed an offer through CashCrate entitled "20 Minute Face Lift." CashCrate listed the offer as costing $2.79 and needing a CC to complete. The payout was $15.00. The fine print of the offer was that you had 2 weeks to try the product. After two weeks, you would be charged $49.99 for the product. If you tried the product and decided against the product, you could return the unused portion of the product to the company and your account would be canceled.
The offer was credited to my CashCrate Account on 9/18/07. Sweet! I thought!
On 10/1/07, my checking account was debited $2.79 (the cost of shipping and handling on the offer.
On 10/8/07, I emailed the company- Momentum Direct, inquiring about the product and when I would receive it.
On 10/8/07, I received an automated email from the company giving me a username and password to thei help forums. I logged on and noticed that there was no response and that it was marked low priority.
On 10/11/07, I logged into the forum to check the responses. None. I replied stating that I would file a fraud report if the product was not received by the 15th or if I hadn't heard anything from them by that same date.
On 10/16/07, I called my bank and got the contact information for the company.
On 10/16/07, I contacted the number the bank gave me. It was disconnected.
On 10/16/07, I posted a message on CashCrate inquiring for the website address to the offer so that I can get their contact information (at this point I didn't know the name of the company, just the offer name)
On 10/16/07, I did a google search and found the parent company of the offer, Momentum Direct. I also did a google search for any complaints, etc.
On 10/16/07, I finally got ahold of somone at Momentum Direct. They informed me that they canceled my account and that the shipment should arrive at my house soon. I inquired about whether I would need to return the product. They stated that I would not.
On 10/16/07, I looked up the company on the BBB. They have a completely unsatisfactory record with the BBB. They have over 500 complaints. Several websites-like scam.org-- suggest that this company is a scam. Many others have claimed that they have taken money out of their accounts, without their knowledge, after claiming to have cancelled their accounts.
On 10/16/07, CashCrate administrators deleted my post on CashCrate, asking for information- -despite it not violating any rules.
Today, I am contacting my bank to discuss options so no further charges are made.

Another good reason to stay away from those "paid to try" offers....
