Sleep Study - 47 day Stay at Hospital - Boston - $9557

Ohhhhh how I wish I lived up in Boston!!!!

The Division of Sleep Medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital is seeking healthy men and women to participate in a research study on the effects of Vitamin B12 on sleep patterns. Participation involves at least 2 screening visits during the day as well spending
47 consecutive days and nights living at the Hospital

Eligible Participants:
*Healthy men and women
*18-30 years old
*Not on medications

Receive up to $9,557

Interested? Contact Jen at 617-278-0698 or vitamin@rics.bwh.harvard.edu

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During your 47-day study, you will live in your own room in the
hospital. You will not know what time it is during the 47-day study,
and the room has no windows, clocks, TV, and you will not be allowed to
bring devices that tell time. You will also not have access to a
telephone during the 47-day study. The room is monitored by
technicians and nurses, and the room has an intercom and video camera.
However, at no time are you being recorded on video or audiotape. During
the study we will record your sleep patterns every night, take blood
samples through an IV in your arm, and take urine and saliva samples.
You will be told when to go to sleep and when to wake up, when to
shower, and when to eat your meals. You will also have to take
performance tests on a computer in your room many times each day. In
between these study activities you will have free time, but your free
time will be interrupted frequently. During most of the study, the room
lighting will seem very dim. When you are scheduled to be asleep, all
the lights in your room will be turned out until it is time for you to
wake up.
On 36 days of the study, you will be given pills to take 3 times per
day. These pills may contain Vitamin B12, or they may be placebos
(pills that look the same as the Vitamin B12 but have no active
ingredients in them). The content of the pills may be different from
one day to the next during the study, and you will not know what is in
each pill.

1st week of regular schedule+ sleep diary+call-ins: $25
2nd week of regular schedule+ sleep diary+call-ins: $25
3rd week of regular schedule+ sleep diary+ call-ins+activity monitor:
$50
completion of all screening visits: $25
daily rate while living in hospital during 47-day study: $125/day (total
$5,875)
incentive bonus for completing entire 47-day study of $500 per week (6.7
weeks): $3,557

Payment upon full completion $9,557

My age would disqualify me also oh and I take a pill every day

I don't think I could do that though...what would you do in that room all day. Apparently you couldn't go on a computer since you cant' know what time it is. I'd go nuts not doing anything all day but waiting for them to tell you to eat, or go to sleep. (Do they tell you when to pee also?? LOL)

See that is the hidden study they aren't telling you about....study how people go crazy in a small room doing absolutely nothing LOL

Hmm almost $10,000 for 47 days...oh if i was younger.... LOL

I'm sure that they would give you stuff to do like books to read and stuff. I don't think it would be too bad if you just wake up every day (or whenever they wake you up Lol) When I get outta here I'm gonna have $10,000 in my bank account. I mean, that's a nice sum of money
