Hello Everybody!

I know it's been quiet here at GPH, but I am finally getting caught up and will soon be making the following enhancements to our little community:

1) Fix forum bugs - there are some bugs with certain parts of the forum. These should be corrected when we upgrade the forum software to the latest version.

Time frame: COMPLETED

*All time frames are absolute from the post date of this topic.


I am excited to be a part of this community, and I look forward to shaking things up a bit. I plan to shake off the virtual cobwebs and really boost the effectiveness of our little spot on the web...

Are all of those weeks timeframes from todays date or do they build on each other.

As in Forum bugs is 2 weeks and then new forum skin is two weeks. Does that mean that, in two weeks from todays date both of those should be done OR forum bugs from todays date will be done in two weeks and then once that is done forum skin will start and take two weeks - totaling 4 weeks

Yeah, that's from the post date. So, both the forum bugs and skin should be within 2 weeks (probably sooner).

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that we would first be moving all of our sites on this server (including this one) to a much, much faster server.

So, at any rate, that switch-over took place tonight and now you should notice that the forum will run much faster than before! :)

Yeah it will be nice because THIS time the servers wont be going down every 5min. <_< You may not have noticed though, cuz Brandon was constantly working to get them back up ASAP.. but it was taking alot of time and work away from him. :( So hopefully he'll have more time to himself this time with less *technical* problems.

Hey everybody...

Wow, how times flies! I can't believe it's already been 2 weeks since I started this thread. Anyway, I finally got caught up to this task of upgrading GPH. So, as of tomorrow at 9am EST, I will begin the upgrade process. During that time, the forum will be unavailable.

If there are no problems, the forum should be back up-and-running by 10am EST but it could take much longer with problems.

p.s. If everything goes well, the new forum skin should also be installed...

Ah well.... I ended up working on a server issue (different server) until 7am. So, I am about to start the upgrade now. Sorry if that gave anyone GPH withdrawal!

Naturally, there is a reason I cannot do the upgrade at this time. The company which makes the forum software is updating THEIR forum. So, I cannot log in to download the latest software.

I guess I will do this later tonight or tomorrow... argh

Not only that, my wireless Internet connection has been driving me up the wall so much that I finally broke down and moved my main computer back downstairs. And, yep, that took about 2.5 hours! argh.

I'm about to finish some coding for linksmile and then I'll be upgrading the forum... finally. :)

Still not done... but getting closer.

I think I deleted custom avatars. Give me a few minutes to go through the backup and see. If so, I will re-upload them.

Yep... I accidentally deleted all the custom pictures and avatars. Fortunately, there were all in the backup. So, all those red X's should be gone now, Rockin

There's a lot of new features now, and it appears that all the "broken" parts of the board are now working --for instance, the 'Today's Active Topics' and 'Report Post' are working. I'll post back when I get farther along.

I tried to keep the old forum skin, but it was not compatible and shows a lot of missing pieces. I will probably leave it as an option for now, but it doesn't work well. So, this current skin will be the default...

Yeah I can see all the avatars now.. But all the old smileys are still showing up as x's to me as well. Looks cool though, I still like it alot, but some of the buttons seem to be different so I gotta get used to that.. Cudos, though, bro!

Yeah, the emoticons didn't transfer over. So, I guess I'll have to add them back one-by-one. :(
