Okay, I've been pretty happy with Meowmoney since signing up with them not too long ago. However, this latest episode has me pretty :censor: mad.

They had an offer on their website for "The PC Bug Doctor", which is a free utility you can download and use to help your computer run better. I clicked on the offer on MM and went to the site, downloaded it and have been using it since. I didn't get credited for it, so I put in a "Trouble Ticket". Here is the whole sequence of messages:

I did the $17.00 offer for the PC Bug Doctor, downloaded it and ran the program on my computer, but have not gotten the credit. There is nowhere to put in information on their site, so I'm not sure why I haven't gotten credited yet. Thanks!

Could you forward me the confirmation email you recieved, email address you used, and also the day you did this offer.
as soon as I get these I will submitt this offer for credit.
Thanks
carrie

There was no place on their website to input an email address... only a button to click on to download the program. There also was nowhere in the program itself to put any information.

Sorry, to answer your other question, I did the offer on 12/2/06, and the offer is currently in my "pending" offers with that date. Also, I just rechecked the website and there is absolutely NO place to put in information, only a button on the main page of the site that says "Download Now".

I will write to the advertiser and get an answer for you.
thanks
carrie

Thanks for your response, Carrie, but I don't think it's an issue with the advertiser. The original offer, which I've pasted below, leads me to believe that all you have to do is download and use the program to receive the payment. I did both of those things, so I should be receiving the payment.
Here's the offer as it was printed on this site:
"PC Bug Doctor - The Bug Doctor will fix hidden bugs and errors on your PC and restore lost performance and speed that is lost over time. 94% of personal computers have corrupt and potentially dangerous files. Bug Doctor will scan your computer for free!"

I have sent this to the person that is supposed to credit this for you. I have emailed him 3 times now and if I get no response by Monday I will email him again for you.

Just checking to see what the status is of this. I think my account should be credited since I completed the offer as listed.

Checking again as I didn't get any response from the last inquiry. PLEASE let me know when I will be credited the $17 for this completed offer.

I still have not recieved a response from the advertiser. I will be checking with them again on Monday.

I really just wish you would credit me the money and fight it out with the advertiser on your own. There is no sense making me wait any longer for the credit that is due to me. If they refuse to pay you, that is their problem and yours but should not be mine. I completed the offer.

Sorry if there was any confusion with the offer. You must download and purchase the software in order to be credited. If you have not purchased the software, no credit is due.

figment79 (February 19th, 2007 at 09:50 AM)
Someone's confused but it's certainly not me. Look again at the offer. It says: "PC Bug Doctor - The Bug Doctor will fix hidden bugs and errors on your PC and restore lost performance and speed that is lost over time. 94% of personal computers have corrupt and potentially dangerous files. Bug Doctor will scan your computer for free!"
"Free" to me means exactly that. Free. It doesn't say you need to purchase it. The offer says it will scan your computer for free. I've downloaded it and used it (and continue to use it). I should be credited. If you made a mistake, that's fine, but at least give me the credit for completing the offer as listed. I did not make any mistakes and should be credited.

First of all, as I said, I've been pretty happy with them overall. But I'm a little mad that I send messages that don't get responded to and they don't seem to care that I DID complete the offer as it was listed on the site. Any suggestions?!?

Thanks for letting me vent! :D

Hi figment79 not taking sides here just making an observation, the BUG DOCTOR plus a host of other spyware etc. removers? of their ilk is not FREE.

The scan is free, but to remove all the nasties which it supposedly finds you usually need to purchase the software. Now I am not sure what this 'free' version is doing but I would guess that it isn't removing 'nasties'

The scam is normally to 'scan' for 'free' then charge you X to remove everything. That is why you have had no emails etc from bug doctor.

Now morally whether the site is liable for the $17 is another question, but you will never receive it unless you buy the 'bug doctor' ;)

Yes, I have found alot of times in the "teaser" phrase you will see on the offer link, it will say "free" but once you click on the offer and read a bit, you will come to understand it as a free scan only. I once did the CyberDefender offer which actually did have a free version (it was ad-supported) and it was a real pain in the butt once it was installed. And of course it never credited. <_<
