I didn't know exactly where to put this so I figured this was a good spot. Today I got an e-mail from marketsurveys [dot] com (which I never signed up for, apparently they have a relationship with a real survey company, Global Test Market, according to the website) <_< about a survey they had, so I figured what the heck and went to take a look. I took the survey, only to be met with about two pages worth of 'offers'. Even though I didn't think anything was selected, I saw right away what the point of the site was. In the end (immediately after cancelling the subscription they said I had, though I know better) I got like six e-mails from places saying 'get a free so-and-so' which has you do offers. These were easy to deal with, as I simply never clicked the links in the e-mails to 'verify' a subscription I never wanted. But, that's NOT the bad part.
THIS IS THE BAD PART: Just a little while later I got an e-mail from someplace called myserviceandsupport thanking me for signing up for the New Messaging Services for a non-refundable set-up fee of $8.43 and a monthly charge of $8.23 charged directly to my phone bill! :o Needless to say, I immediately clicked the cancellation link AND e-mailed their customer service to tell them not to do ANY charges as I didn't authorize anything of the kind. Besides, I'm a 19 year-old student living at home, I have NO authority to authorize anything. I just hope I wasn't unknowingly signed up for anything else that doesn't give the courtesy of an e-mail, and that the cancellation works without any charges. Otherwise, my mother is SERIOUSLY going to kill me! Just in case, does anyone know of any good funeral planners?
Really though, if you encounter this program RUN AWAY! It could only have been them, as all the other sites I've encountered recently are legitimate, highly-recommended sites, or else sites I've gone to on a regular basis for a very long time.

Thanks for the heads up, Tiff.
I edited your post to replace the domain .com part with [dot] com... otherwise, you are helping them with their search rankings (not something you want to do with a deadbeat company).
Hahaha... hopefully, it won't come to that!

Oh, sorry. I didn't think about the search rankings. Thanks for changing it. Obviously, I was a bit upset and flustered when I posted the original message. I wanted to warn everyone though. I've since calmed down a bit, and hopefully there aren't any serious problems with anything in the future because of it. Yeah, I hope it doesn't come to that as well, I'm a bit too young to die. :)

Jeez, I never thought internet could be so wicked
To be honest, I'd be concerned too, since you can't prove you didn't sign up and they can make false formular which says you did. It could be the trick with cookies, where they take all the relevant info from fill-in fields on other sites (eg. NAME,ADDRESS, etc.) that your computer remembered via cookies and use it in a script to create a form that basicly says you applied for mail. But, It's just one of my conspiracy theories, so don't worry.
I hope everything will end well.
Best of luck.

Thanks. Yeah, I've fully resumed my old practice of regularly deleting my cookies. Go figure that just when I let it lapse is when a problem happens.
No definitive proof yet, but I think everything is alright. I guess I'll know for sure when it comes time for the phone bill.
