First off to any new members may I officially say :howdy: to the forum and may you enjoy your time here. We are a friendly bunch and always trying to help each other out.

Second...if you haven't already try to read the rules to get yourself acquainted with what this forum is all about. It can save a lot of time in the long run ;)

Also may I suggest w/o anyone taking offense and/or thinking that I am singling anyone out that before posting about programs (esp. Pinecone lol) that you do a quick search to see if there are posts about the program. It will save a lot of time if you can pull up what is said about the programs if they are already on the forum. Saves the older members from saying "well we discussed this in another post..." and then proceeding to repeat what was said.

Of course I'm not saying don't ask questions...by all means ask away. I'm just thinking it may save you some time if you find the old posts rather then asking a question and then waiting for the responses.

How do you search? Bet you are asking that LOL  I know it took me awhile to figure out my way around there. You'll notice that at the top of the forum is your name then some round buttons (New Posts great button to click on to get to the topics that have come up/responded to since your last visit -- first button I click on when I get here) Well under the round buttons is HELP, then SEARCH -- then just put in what you would like to search for.

I just thought it may save some members some posting and since the info could already be here a bit of reading. I hope no one takes offense to what I have said...it's not meant to be mean.Again just thought it would save someone some time if they just searched instead of posting about an already discussed topic (ex.PineCone I see has about 3 or 4 new threads..it could be imho, limited to maybe only 2 threads)

Again when you get a chance read the rules and by all means if you don't see your question anywhere on the thread post away. We all are here to help each other out and there is always someone here that can answer you.

Please have a wonderful weekend
;)

since the forums is starting to get larger and more and more topics are being started, i wonder if we should start redirecting duplicate threads when we notice them. just like we do in the downline builder we could lable it as a duplicate and put the address of the original thread.

any ideas on that?

I like that idea. When I see a new thread on an old topic I tend to think that maybe a new thread was there to draw my attention to something new. For example, I had given up reading Pinecone threads because I thought they didn't have any info for me. Keeping everything together would give it a nicer look. Quick question though, when I click on new posts would it show up twice?? Y'know, shown under its' original thread and shown again where it's moved to. Cause that might get a little annoying.....

well you can move a thread to a different forum but you can't move a post to a different thread. we would not physically move the post but just mark it as duplicate and put the link to the original thread.

example:

pincone banner

where can i find the banner.... blah blah... blah...

**duplicate** (here goes the link to the original thread)
topic closed

ha. how is that for a demonstration

UGH!!! I had a nice response and my finger hit my mouse pad (on a lap top so it's touch mouse lol) and my response went :wallbash: LOL

I was also thinking that duplicate threads should be redirected to the original post. THat way Brandon isn't tripping over all the posts when he gets to come back. (WES -- YOU ARE MISSED!!!) hmm, maybe he will hear that LOL

Idle, Can you PM and let me know how to put the link in posts so we can start redirecting posts. Also can you redirect them if someone has responded already? Will that response go with it also? Also once we redirect can people still respond to it or will that thread be closed??

just wondering how it will work...Yertle I know what you mean about reading the duplicate posts and I have to read every post well I think I should..since there are 3 Mods....want to make sure everything is neat and clean in the posts LOL ;)

i don't think any of us mods have permissions to move/redirect threads. we would have to wait for puravida to come back and see what he thinks about it and if he wants he could change the permissions. but until then what i was thinking of was not physically moving the threads but just closing them and placing the link to the original thread.

so if a person makes a duplicate thread what we could do is open up the original thread, copy the full address of it and then paste it into the duplicate thread. just put a message saying that the thread is a duplicate on and then paste the address of the original thread. then close the topic so it cant keep being used. if the person who started the duplicate thread wanted their post to be in the original thread they would have to go there and re-post.

just a brain storm. let me know how you think about it :)

Idle
Look at the bottom of your page and you will see Moderation Options and you can choose from Move, Close, Delete and Edit Topic....I've deleted a spammers whole topic before from that menu LOL

He gave us those "powers" when he asked us to be Moderators...didn't he tell you? So we can move the posts if they are posted in wrong areas or duplicates.

yes im aware of all the toys we get to play with :)

but as far as i know there is no way to take a new thread and move it to the bottom of another thread. see if someone makes a post in a thread we can move that post to a different thread but i don't know of a way to move a thread and make it apart of another one.

Ooohhh I know what you are saying now and yep I don't think we can move them into an already started thread either. Yea will have to wait for Brandon to come back and let us know about that.

When I went to move those testing posts I am just able to move them to the forums but not to an already started thread.

I just think it would be helpful if we can keep the duplicate threads down to a minimum....it could be too confusing for newbies and time consuming for all to have to read 4 threads about the same subject.

Don't get me wrong glad to see a lot of posts but think we should keep the threads to 1 thread per subject (ex. just 1 thread regarding Pinecone instead of what is it 4 going on now).

Sorry it took me a little longer to get what you were saying....I'm sitting in a non AC house and it's very hot and fans just aren't doing it yet. LOL Plus the fact that I wasted half my weekend on a bust of a yard sale...sat all day Sat and only made $6.00 LOL

better rate then ptc's :)

here is a couple examples of my suggestion. the only difference is that i am not a mod for that section so i had to do it as a reply instead of editing the original post which is how i think it should be done. no one is getting in trouble of course it is just a way of keeping things organized. if someone makes a post and finds it redirected like this they can feel free to re submit their post at the bottom of the original thead so it does not go missed :)

I think that it is a great idea so that us newbies don't get confused.

I hope that new members read this thread because we are finding new threads being started about old programs that if you took a few minutes to search (put any date so that you have a better chance for that program to come up)

Pinecone is such a discussed topic here that it's not hard to type Pinecone in the search menu and find it. There is no reason that we need to have 20 threads about the hard to find Pinecone Banner so with that not being mean or come across as mean if a new thread is started the moderators will merge it with the existing thread (any program) and no new thread will be shown telling a member that it's been merged. Just want everyone to realize that threads will be merged so they don't think their post has been deleted. This is just making more work actually for moderators and owner and shouldn't have to be.

We just want to keep the forum clean and clutter free and duplicate threads add to clutter and time taken away from other things.

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask or PM a moderator. We are happy to help (and if I can't I'll find out the answer and give credit to who gave it to me LOL)

Thanks for making this a great forum (clutter and spam free) w/o you there is no forum.

Does anyone know, is there any way to change the default on the search from "last 30 days" to any date? Sometimes I think that is the problem...that people just do a quick search and don't change the date range so they miss old posts where we have covered topics.

Any ideas?

As far as the "default" is concerned... Not sure about making that change however...All ya haveta do is just check "older" and then click the drop-down menu and check "anydate" and it should give you multiple listings if there is a thread already started..

This is how I do my searches... Hope that helps somewhat...

Where the date is there is a drop down menu and you just scroll down to "any date"

Actually I think they just don't want to take the time to search (not all the time just sometimes) Also sometimes if the title was spelled wrong that would cause a problem also but I think we have tried to fix typos in the subject so that it will come up when doing search.

We just want to keep it easy to find and not have 3 or 4 or 10 threads so that's why we brought this up again

I know how to change it...I just think sometimes people are used to search functions where you just type in a term and go from there. No biggie. Just an idea.
